CMA CGM transfers first peruvian grapes to Japan

CMA CGM’s Asia Central South America 1 (ACSA1) service shipped the first load of Peruvian grapes to Japan.

The milestone shipment arrived at CMA CGM’s Honmoku D4 terminal in the port of Yokohama. Peruvian grapes have joined the list of fresh fruits that the Asia-Latin America service has reliably brought to the Yokohama port, arriving onboard the 15,000 TEU CMA CGM Liberty, one of three e-methane ready LNG-powered vessels deployed on the weekly service.

The shipment begins a wave of 26 Peruvian grape types that the Andean nation will export to Japan duty-free under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

“The CMA CGM Group is thrilled to deliver this important and unprecedented cargo of Peruvian grapes to the Japanese market. It marks the first of many more grape shipments from Peru to Japan ahead,” stated Hideki Uchida, President of CMA CGM in Japan.

The ACSA1 service is operated in a port-of-call rotation of Shekou (China), Hong Kong (China), Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Ningbo (China), Shanghai (China), Qingdao (China), Busan (South Korea), Manzanillo (Panama), Lazaro Cardenas (Mexico), Buenaventura (Colombia), Callao (Spain), Posorja (Ecuador), Lazaro Cardenas, Manzanillo, Yokohama (Japan), Busan, and Shekou.
