CMA CGM to manage America peak season with extra surcharges

French shipping group, CMA CGM has announced new surcharges in view of the upcoming peak season in America as the expectation of demand being maintained at high levels persists.

[s2If is_user_logged_in()]The Marseille-based line will implement a peak season surcharge (PSS) of US$300/20′ and US$500/40′ on its MEDEX service for dry cargo from Indian ports to Central America (East and West Coasts), Mexico West Coast, the Caribbean, Leeward, Windward islands and French West Indies.

The surcharges will be effective from 15 February, except Colombia, Puerto Rico and Virgin Island, where they will take effect on 6 March.

In addition, CMA CGM will apply another PSS of €150 (US$180)/TEU for dry containers and €100 (US$120)/20′ and €150 (US$180)/40′ for reefer boxes from all the ports in Italy and Portugal and the ports of Valencia, Barcelona and Algeciras to South America West Coast, Central America & the Caribbean, Leeward and Windward islands. The date of the surcharges’ application is 1 March, except Colombia, US territories and Puerto Rico, where the PSS will be effective four days later.

Last but not least, the French shipping group will implement a PSS of €100 (US$120)/TEU for dry containers and per reefer box from the Spanish Atlantic ports of Bilbao, Vigo and Gijon and all the North European ports, except Baltic and Scandinavian ones to South America West Coast. This surcharge will also be effective from 1 March, apart from Colombia and US territories, where the surcharge will start on 5 March.
