CMA CGM has taken delivery of the CMA CGM Mercury, the fifth vessel in its series of 13,000 TEU dual-fuel containerships capable of running on methanol.
The newbuild was handed over at the Mokpo shipyard in South Korea and is part of a 12-ship rollout designed to accelerate the group’s energy transition. By using green methanol, the vessels can cut emissions per container while maintaining flexibility across global trades.
The Mercury will sail under the command of Captain Dmytro Dbrokhotov and his crew.
This delivery strengthens CMA CGM’s position as one of the leaders in adopting scalable alternative-fuel solutions for large containerships, as the company works toward reducing its overall carbon footprint.
