CMA CGM revises Inland Emergency Surcharge for Burkina Faso

CMA CGM Mermaid

CMA CGM has announced an adjustment to its Inland Emergency Surcharge for cargo moving to Burkina Faso by rail via Abidjan, following an improvement in congestion and operational conditions at the port. While the situation is not yet fully resolved, the carrier said conditions have stabilized enough to reduce the surcharge amount.

The revised surcharge will apply from December 1, 2025 (loading date) until further notice.

Updated surcharge details

  • Scope: All cargo destined for Burkina Faso via Abidjan

  • Transport mode: Rail

  • New surcharge: €350 per container (reduced from €700)

  • Applicability: Only when CMA CGM performs the intermodal segment

  • Payment terms: Same as standard rail charges

CMA CGM said the adjustment reflects the gradual easing of operational bottlenecks in Abidjan and its commitment to maintaining transparency and cost efficiency across regional intermodal routes.
