CMA CGM reshapes West Africa coverage

CMA CGM has announced a revised port rotation for its MedWax service, enhancing its presence in Nigeria while streamlining operations in West Africa.

The Gibraltar Straits–West Africa MedWax loop will now include Lekki Port (Nigeria), replacing San Pedro (Ivory Coast) in the rotation.

The updated port sequence is as follows:
Algeciras – Tangier – Freetown – Lekki – Monrovia – Freetown – Algeciras

The strategic inclusion of Lekki a modern deep-sea terminal positioned as a future regional hub reflects CMA CGM’s efforts to strengthen its operational foothold in Nigeria’s rapidly growing trade market.

In a further move to expand regional connectivity, CMA CGM has also launched the Bijagos Shuttle 2, a dedicated fortnightly feeder service linking Nigeria with Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.

The service deploys two 1,700 TEU vessels on the following route:
Lekki – Dakar – Bissau – Lekki.
