CMA CGM postpones implementation of Low Water Surcharge for Manaus

CMA CGM HELIUM

CMA CGM has announced a postponement of the Low Water Surcharge (LWS) on shipments between the Far East and Manaus, following updated monitoring results showing that Amazon River levels are decreasing more slowly than initially expected.

The surcharge, aimed at offsetting the impact of reduced navigability on operational costs, will now take effect on November 15, 2025, under the following conditions:

  • Port: Manaus, Brazil

  • Scope: From/to Far East

  • Cargo: All types

  • Amount: USD 950 per TEU

  • Settlement: As per freight

The company emphasized that the LWS is a temporary emergency measure and will remain in place only until river conditions normalize. CMA CGM’s technical teams will continue to monitor developments closely and issue further updates should the operational situation change.
