CMA CGM new panamax vessel breaks Australia’s record at Port Botany

Australia’s major container terminal operator, Patrick Terminals has announced that the 10,926 TEU CMA CGM Estelle set a record calling Port Botany, carrying the most containers ever carried by a single ship in Australia.

CMA CGM Estelle is deployed on the NEMO Australia Express Service between Europe, the Indian Ocean and Australia, which is a joint service by MSC and CMA CGM.

The previous record was achieved by another CMA CGM vessel, CMA CGM Ural, in June 2020.

Michael Jovicic, CEO of Patrick Terminals, commented, “CMA CGM Estelle is an impressive sight alongside our Patrick Terminals quay line being worked upon by the largest ship-to-shore cranes in Australia. Patrick Terminals has invested significantly to accommodate the next generation of larger container vessels and is well equipped to service these ships.”

According to a statement, thousands of containers will be offloaded from the CMA CGM Estelle over the next 24 hours, before it departs Port Botany and heads south to Melbourne.
