Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT) welcomed the m/v CMA CGM KRYPTON on her maiden call to the Port of Rijeka.
The vessel is on her first commercial voyage. HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries delivered the ship in December 2025 at its Mokpo shipyard in South Korea. CMA CGM immediately deployed her on the Asia–Mediterranean service within the Ocean Alliance network.
The service operates under the names Phoenician Express (CMA CGM), AEM6 (COSCO), BEX2 (Evergreen), and AAS (OOCL). It offers weekly connections between the Far East, the Mediterranean, and the Adriatic. Rijeka serves as the first port of call and a key gateway into Central and Southeast Europe.
CMA CGM KRYPTON departed Busan on 9 December 2025. She transited the Suez Canal and called at Alexandria, Tripoli, and Beirut before arriving in Rijeka.
AGCT organized a traditional maiden call visit on arrival. Milan Ogrizović, Operations Manager at AGCT, Iva Roman Kalinić from the Commercial Department, and Jakov Karmelić from CMA CGM Croatia attended the visit.
Captain Vadym Byelash and his crew welcomed the delegation on board. AGCT presented the captain with a Port Plaque to mark the vessel’s first call to Rijeka.
CMA CGM KRYPTON has a capacity of 13,136 TEU. She is the seventh vessel in a series of twelve methanol-enabled sister ships. The series carries the names of chemical elements, including Iron, Cobalt, Argon, Platinum, Mercury, and Krypton.
The vessel belongs to a new generation of compact neo-panamax container ships. The design combines high capacity with operational flexibility.
The ship measures 335 metres in length and 51 metres in beam. She has a deadweight of 147,200 tonnes and a draft of 15.5 metres. The vessel features 2,100 reefer plugs and a MAN B&W main engine producing around 43,000 kW. Service speed reaches just under 21 knots.
CMA CGM designed the vessel for North–South and Asia–Mediterranean trades. The layout supports high volumes of temperature-controlled and high-value cargo.
CMA CGM KRYPTON also supports the group’s decarbonisation strategy. While CMA CGM’s largest vessels run on LNG, its mid-sized fleet is being delivered as methanol-enabled.
The maiden call highlights AGCT’s growing role as a key Adriatic gateway. It also strengthens Rijeka’s position within the Ocean Alliance network and improves regional supply chain connectivity.
