CMA CGM introduces reefer container tracking system

CMA CGM has launched SMART reefer container, a digital solution for tracking the position and status of refrigerated goods.

The French company claims this solution enables customers to be more proactive in the transport process and ensure that reefer boxes travel in optimal conditions, through an online interface that is updated in real-time.

As containers are equipped with Emerson technology, the tracking system has the ability to monitor their status and identify their conditions during the overall transport process, and receive key data such as location, temperature and gas variations, according to a statement.

The platform has also the ability to set up notifications that can be shared with partners, in order to detect possible anomalies and implement corrective measures for the reduction of operating costs.

“In this way, the solution provides end-to-end visibility for all reefer shipments, and therefore, enhanced management of cargo and supply chain,” said CMA CGM.

The digital solution is currently available in 34 countries including, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Egypt, Ecuador, France, Germany, the Netherlands, India, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Malaysia, Martinique, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam.

This constitutes a complement to the existing “smart containers” offering for dry goods, which was launched in 2018, with technology provided by TRAXENS.
