CMA CGM enhances intermodal network in Spain

CMA CGM has announced it will improve its intermodal coverage of Zaragoza, Spain, adding a new service from the Port of Valencia.

The French carrier already operates a shuttle train service from Barcelona to Zaragoza with five times a week frequency.

The new Valencia – Zaragoza shuttle train is part of CMA CGM’s active sales product “Switch to Rail (S2R)” benefits from three departures on a weekly basis.

The Marseille-based company claims the new product will permit significant flexibility for shipments via these two ports in Spain, while the transit time from Valencia to Zaragoza is two days.

The decision of CMA CGM to upgrade its intermodal network in Spain comes few days after the announcement of the Port Authority of Valencia about another new rail service that connects Valencia with Zaragoza.

“We are offering a very competitive solution via Zaragoza Ramp in one day for the dynamic and industrial area of Tudela, Cartuja Baja, Ejea de los Caballeros where automotive, paper, chemical, metal and agricultural products industries are located,” said CMA CGM.

Import Zaragoza door is reached from Asia ports such as Qingdao in 36 days, Shanghai in 31 days, Yantian in 24 days and Singapore in 20 days via MEX service, according to the announcement by the French container line.
