CMA CGM implements new surcharges in Latin America

The French liner operator CMA CGM will apply new Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) in boxes that will be destined in Latin American ports, with effect from March.

Firstly, CMA CGM will introduce a PSS in sailings from the Italian ports of Ancona, Bari, Ravenna, Trieste and Venezia to all ports of West Coast South America, East and West Coast Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico West Coast, Guyana, Leeward and Windward.

This charge, which will be US$1,110 (€1,000) per 20′ and US$833 (€750) per 40′ dry container, will be applied on 1 March, except for Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, North Brazil, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, where the surcharge will begin on 25 March.

Furthermore, the Marseille-based shipping line will set a PSS from the Caribbean ports of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Dominica, Grenada, and Barbados, to the East and West Coast of South and Central America, as well as Mexico, the Caribbean, Leeward and Windward.

This surcharge of US$55.5 (€50) per TEU will be introduced in all dry and reefer containers from 19 March, according to the French shipping company.
