The vessel CMA CGM Fiordland has made history as the first large container ship to dock at Puerto Antioquia in Colombia. This arrival marks a significant milestone for the country’s maritime connectivity. Consequently, the terminal is now entering a new phase of large-scale commercial operations.
The facility features state-of-the-art technology and advanced logistics processes. Notably, the terminal includes an onshore yard connected to a unique offshore platform. A 3.8-kilometer viaduct links these two sections together to facilitate cargo movement.
This development strengthens regional trade flows and supports the export of fresh produce. By accommodating larger vessels, the port enhances Colombia’s ability to participate in global trade. Therefore, the successful docking of the CMA CGM Fiordland proves the terminal’s capacity to handle modern maritime demands.
