CMA CGM will charter capacity on the transatlantic service operated by Neoline Armateurs, marking a further step in the development of wind-assisted shipping solutions.

Under the agreement, CMA CGM will secure 50 TEU per sailing on the service operated by the Neoliner Origin, a primarily sail-powered cargo vessel designed to significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions, accoridng to DynaLiners.

The Neoliner Origin has a deadweight of about 5,300 tonnes, with a cargo capacity of approximately 265 TEU and around 1,200 lane metres for rolling cargo.

The vessel is part of an innovative maritime project aimed at promoting low-carbon shipping, in which CMA CGM is also an investor.

The Neoliner Origin completed its maiden voyage last October and is scheduled to operate monthly sailings for the remainder of the year.

The service currently connects the ports of Montoir in France, Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, Baltimore and Halifax before returning to Montoir.

By securing slots on the service, CMA CGM aims to support the development of alternative propulsion technologies while offering customers lower-emission transport options across the Atlantic.
