CMA CGM announces rate restoration initiatives to Latin America and Caribbean

CMA CGM will implement rate restoration initiatives on routes from Europe to Latin America and the Caribbean. The surcharges take effect April 1, 2026.

The carrier will apply a rate restoration initiative of EUR 325 per container from North Europe to Central America and the Caribbean. The surcharge covers cargo from North Europe, Baltic and Scandinavia, excluding Portugal.

Destination markets include Central America East Coast, Caribbean, and Central America West Coast. Trinidad & Tobago, Puerto Rico, French West Indies, French Guiana, and Mexico West Coast are excluded from the surcharge.

CMA CGM will also implement a rate restoration initiative of EUR 150 per TEU from West Mediterranean to Latin America. Origin ports include Marseille in France, Italy, and Spanish Mediterranean ports Algeciras, Valencia and Barcelona, plus Portugal.

The West Mediterranean surcharge applies to cargo bound for West Coast South America, Caribbean, Central America, West Coast Central America, Windward, Leeward, Guyanas, Suriname and North Brazil. GPGUS and ANPHI are excluded.

Both rate restoration initiatives apply to all cargo types. The surcharges apply to tariff or service contract rates. They are applicable to all contracts with validity of up to three months.

Bunker-related surcharges, terminal handling charges at origin and destination, and safety and security-related surcharges may also apply. Contingency charges and local charges may be applicable.
