CMA CGM has announced the introduction of a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for cargo moving from Asia to North Europe, as part of its efforts to maintain reliable and efficient service levels during the peak shipping period.

The surcharge will apply from 29 December 2025, based on the loading date, and will remain in effect until further notice.

The PSS covers shipments originating from all Asian ports, including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh, and applies to cargo destined for all North European ports, including the United Kingdom and the full range of ports from Portugal through to Finland and Estonia.

According to CMA CGM, the surcharge applies to dry cargo, refrigerated containers, out-of-gauge cargo and paying empty containers.

The PSS has been set at USD 250 per TEU and will be applicable to all contracts and deals with a validity exceeding 30 days.

CMA CGM advised customers to take the surcharge into account when planning shipments on the Asia–North Europe trade lane during the peak season period.
