CLdN plans expansion at Teesport

CLdN has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Teesport, announcing plans to strengthen its freight service between Zeebrugge and the northeast UK port following P&O Ferries’ recent decision to discontinue its own Zeebrugge–Teesport route.

The Luxembourg-based RoRo operator is actively exploring an expansion of its existing Zeebrugge–Teesport service, which it launched in 2023 and has already boosted earlier this year. CLdN is also considering opening a brand-new freight route between Rotterdam and Teesport, should customer demand support the move.

Backed by a long-term agreement with port operator PD Ports, CLdN’s presence at Teesport offers shippers reliable access to the UK’s northeast and Scotland. Teesport itself boasts deep-water access, no locks, and direct links to the North Sea via the River Tees.

”The arrival of the two new 8.400 lane metre hybrid RoRo newbuilds (MV Chaumine and MV Leonine) has further enhanced our ability to ship unaccompanied freight across the North Sea with lower CO2 emissions than any of our competitors”, said Gary Walker, Chief Operating Officer of CLdN’s shipping activities.

”Teesport is a vital link for trade flows between the north of England to mainland Europe and beyond, serving key markets”, commented Frans Calje, chief executive officer at PD Ports.
