CII welcomes three new Board members

The Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing international trade and intermodal transportation, announces the addition of three industry leaders to its board of directors.

Joining the board are Nick Fafoutis, Executive Vice President at American President Lines (APL); Giancarlo Morgera, Executive Vice President of Liner Services at MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (USA) Inc. (MSC USA); and Ken O’Brien, President and CEO of Gemini Shippers Association.

Nick Fafoutis brings extensive expertise in the shipping sector and currently serves as Executive Vice President at APL, where he leads commercial and operational functions related to the company’s US government business, including military and US-flag cargo.

Giancarlo Morgera is a seasoned executive in global shipping and serves as Executive Vice President of Liner Services at MSC USA, where he is responsible for overseeing the company’s export operations.

Ken O’Brien, a recognized leader in shipping and logistics, is the President and CEO of Gemini Shippers Association, one of North America’s leading shippers associations. Additionally, he serves as President of Bluspark, a company specializing in tech-enabled consulting, procurement, and logistics solutions for shippers and shipper associations.

Since its founding in 1960, CII has been committed to promoting and supporting international commerce and intermodal container transportation while recognizing excellence in the supply chain and academia.

The organization’s scholarship program, established in 1992, has awarded over US$1 million to students pursuing careers in the industry, as well as institutions shaping the next generation of leaders.

CII’s leadership team includes President Chris Brooks of the Journal of Commerce by S&P Global; First Vice President Michael Mendoza of WSI; Second Vice President Steven Blust of Blust Intermodal Advisors; Treasurer Cate Avolio of the International Longshoremen’s Association; Secretary Lisa Wheldon of Medlog Companies; and Executive Director Lisa Aurichio of BSY Associates Inc.
