Amid huge stockpile of boxes at the yards, the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) on Thursday announced addition of yard capacity by 5,482 TEUs reaching it to 59,000 TEUs from previously 53518 TEUs.
The CPA said it has been increasing yards, sheds etc as part of regular capacity expansion.
“Over the past year several yard renovations have been completed and new yards are being constructed. Already, new yards have been constructed in the areas of old auction yard, car storage area, baggage shed, and at Y-shed. As a result, the storage capacity has increased to 59,000 TEUs,” the port authority said in a press statement.
