CEVA Logistics launches TIR road transport center

CEVA Logistics has officially opened a new 4,300-square-meter international road transport center in Alashankou, China.

Located within the Cross-Border eCommerce Industrial Park of the city’s Comprehensive Bonded Zone, the facility includes an additional 1,000 square meters dedicated to handling dangerous goods.

This marks CEVA’s first TIR hub designed to consolidate both inbound and outbound TIR road freight under one roof. The opening ceremony was attended by local government officials, highlighting the significance of the development.

Strategically positioned at the China-Kazakhstan border, Alashankou is a vital gateway to Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Europe, supported by an extensive highway network.

The bonded zone offers advantages such as duty-free storage, expedited customs clearance, and favorable policies for cross-border eCommerce and manufacturing operations.

The new center will support less-than-truckload consolidation, enabling multiple shippers to share transport space and reduce logistics costs. Compared to traditional road freight methods, CEVA’s TIR model combined with this facility is expected to reduce transit times by nearly 30% and lower transport costs by approximately 15%.

Looking ahead, CEVA plans to use the Alashankou hub as a central anchor in a secure, fast, and reliable TIR network that will connect around 30 cities across 15 countries throughout Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Europe.

Kelvin Tang, CEVA’s Vice President of Ground & Rail for Greater China and Global Cross-Border & Multimodal Leader, stated Alashankou is a launchpad for Eurasian supply chains.
