BNSF Railway, a leading North American transportation company, announced that Northern Lines Railway (NLR) and Columbia Basin Railroad (CBRW) have joined its Shortline Select™ program.
Launched in fall 2024, Shortline Select™ connects shortlines with BNSF’s 32,500-mile network across 28 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces. The program combines the personalized service of shortlines with BNSF’s reach, offering customers expanded market access.
Mark Ganaway, BNSF General Director of Marketing, said, “We’re proud to welcome NLR and CBRW. They exemplify dependable, integrated service and support customer growth through collaboration.”
Katie Sackett, NLR Senior Director of Sales and Marketing, added, “Joining Shortline Select™ strengthens our two-decade partnership with BNSF. We look forward to continued growth.”
Tim Enayati, CBRW Senior VP of Commercial Development, said, “This partnership improves efficiency through data sharing and integrated solutions. We can better serve time-sensitive commodities, including agriculture and food products, while reducing dwell time and improving interchange at Connell.”
Shortline Select™ has already reduced car dwell, improved interchange fluidity, and grown traffic volume. Participants also benefit from BNSF initiatives like Premier Transloads, Certified Sites, operational process improvements, and pre-defined economic arrangements to respond quickly to customer rate requests.
