Cavotec unveils flexible shore power solution

Cavotec has launched PowerAlign, a new modular and mobile shore power solution purpose-built for container terminals.

The unveiling took place at TOC Europe 2025 in Rotterdam, where the system was introduced as a forward-looking answer to rising environmental and operational demands in the maritime sector.

Each unit can cover up to 140 meters, with additional modules allowing for extended reach. Its low-profile design helps to keep the quay area clear, ensuring that cargo and crane operations are not obstructed.

David Pagels, CEO of Cavotec commented that container ports are under increasing pressure to cut emissions while maintaining high performance. PowerAlign delivers on both fronts offering a compact, scalable, and future-ready solution.

Unlike fixed shore power installations, which can restrict terminal workflows, PowerAlign’s mobile configuration features an enclosed cable reel mounted at the quay edge. This protects the cable system, reduces maintenance requirements, and ensures durability even in high-traffic, space-constrained terminals.

PowerAlign helps ports comply with emissions regulations and sustainability goals, while ensuring vessel turnaround efficiency remains uncompromised.
