Cavotec to deliver Maldives’ first shore power system

Cavotec has secured an order from Mohan Mutha Group to supply the Maldives’ first shore power systems. The project marks a key step in the nation’s plan to cut port emissions and serves as a regional benchmark for future projects across South Asia and nearby island nations.

The systems will let berthed vessels connect to onshore electrical power, eliminating berth emissions and reducing auxiliary engine use. This will lower local air pollution, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and extend engine life.

The order covers five Power Run and Power Feed systems, with delivery set for Q1 2026.

“This order is a milestone for both the Maldives and Cavotec,” said David Pagels, CEO of Cavotec. “It shows the growing global commitment to port electrification and positions Cavotec as a leader in enabling this transition. We are proud to help the Maldives move toward cleaner, more sustainable port operations.”
