CargoBeamer, a leading provider of rail transport for semi-trailers, has launched a new route connecting Venlo, Netherlands, and Oradea, Romania. The service started at the end of September 2025 and offers six roundtrips per week with a transit time of 60 hours.
Trains run Sunday to Friday from Venlo and Friday to Wednesday from Oradea. The service accommodates craneable and non-craneable semi-trailers, Frigo, ADR, and tank trailers, as well as containers and swap-bodies. It represents one of the first direct intermodal links between the Netherlands and Romania.
The route strengthens the East-West intermodal corridor and significantly reduces emissions. Around 88% of CO₂ is saved compared to diesel truck transport, roughly 1,800 kg per semi-trailer. Romanian logistics company Routier European Transport will operate the majority of slots and provide rail traction, with remaining capacity available to the market.
“With Venlo–Oradea, we create a direct, sustainable link between Western and Eastern Europe,” said Boris Timm, COO of CargoBeamer. “The route supports our expansion into Eastern Europe and the continued growth of our European network.”
