C.H. Robinson expands U.S.–Mexico border operations

C.H. Robinson has expanded its cross-border logistics network with the addition of 450,000 square feet of warehousing and cross-docking space in El Paso, Texas, bringing its total U.S.–Mexico border footprint to more than 2 million square feet.

The expansion strengthens the company’s position as North America’s leading cross-border logistics provider, offering scalable solutions for the growing flow of goods between the two countries.

The move comes amid record trade growth in northern Mexico. The state of Chihuahua, just across the border from El Paso, led Mexico’s exports with USD 47.6 billion in value during Q2 2025—a 35.7% year-on-year increase. High-tech manufacturing, particularly in computer and communication equipment, is driving much of this growth.

“El Paso is emerging as a key gateway for high-tech, automotive, medical, and healthcare products,” said Jay Cornmesser, Vice President for Mexico Cross-Border Services at C.H. Robinson. “Our expansion directly supports the evolving needs of customers as nearshoring reshapes supply chains across North America.”

C.H. Robinson’s expanded facilities provide customs support, warehousing, multimodal transportation, and AI-driven logistics management, helping companies streamline operations and maintain compliance as trade regulations evolve.

Michael Castagnetto, President of North American Surface Transportation at C.H. Robinson, said the company’s growth reflects its commitment to resilience and innovation. “With 35 years of experience in Mexico, boots on the ground, and AI-powered solutions, we’re helping customers stay ahead in a fast-changing trade environment,” he said.

The El Paso expansion complements C.H. Robinson’s operations in Laredo, the busiest U.S.–Mexico port, reinforcing its integrated logistics network amid accelerating nearshoring trends.
