bound4blue has strengthened its presence in Asia with new production capabilities in China and a series of regional partnerships aimed at accelerating the uptake of its eSAIL® wind propulsion systems.
The company will now manufacture through outsourced partners in the Shanghai and Yangtze River Delta region, moving production closer to major shipyards and retrofit hubs. The strategy cuts lead times and improves logistics for customers across China, South Korea, and Japan.
Production partners are certified to international quality, environmental, and safety standards. Initial capacity is set at up to 100 units per year from 2026, with room to scale as demand grows.
bound4blue has also partnered with leading Chinese firms in heavy marine equipment, structures and material handling. The cooperation will first focus on manufacturing and logistics, with plans to extend into service and technical support.
COO Juan José Arrebola said China is central to the future of maritime decarbonisation. He said the expansion will allow bound4blue to deliver systems faster, support customers locally and maintain the same quality standards as in Europe.
Lastly, the company’s eSAIL® technology uses wind power to reduce fuel use and emissions. bound4blue says the China expansion positions it to scale globally and support cleaner shipping worldwide.
