BNSF launches fast-track intermodal service

BNSF Railway has rolled out a new expedited intermodal service connecting Los Angeles and Houston, offering third-day delivery and a strong alternative to traditional over-the-road (OTR) transport options.

The service, which officially began operations on July 10, runs between BNSF’s Hobart intermodal terminal in Los Angeles and its Pearland facility in the greater Houston area.

According to BNSF, the offering is designed for shippers who prioritize speed and consistency, particularly those currently moving freight by truck between Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston.

”By continuing to create more opportunities to convert over-the-road (OTR) freight to rail, we provide a cost-effective, direct solution to bring freight to the dynamic and growing Houston area,” said Jon Gabriel, Vice President, Consumer Products, BNSF Group.

The new route leverages BNSF’s busy Southern Transcon corridor, one of the most vital freight lines in the country, to ensure smoother transits and additional capacity out of Southern California. For shippers looking to streamline supply chains while maintaining tight delivery schedules, the expedited LA-to-Houston lane offers a compelling new option.
