BIMCO selects Maersk veteran as its new Chief Shipping Analyst

Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), the world’s largest direct-membership organisation for shipowners, charterers, shipbrokers and agents, has appointed Niels Rasmussen as its Chief Shipping Analyst who will take over his duties on 3 January 2022.

Most recently, Rasmussen was Global Head of Research at Maersk Broker for six years, focusing on the main shipping segments such as container, dry bulk and tanker.

Prior to that, Rasmussen held several different roles at Maersk Line around the world including postings in Japan, Singapore, and the United States.

Deputy Secretary-General at BIMCO, Michael Lund, stated, “We are delighted that Niels will be heading our shipping market analysis team.”

“I am excited to join BIMCO and look forward to contributing to the industry’s understanding of market developments, from supply chain issues to challenges caused by the pandemic,” commented Rasmussen.
