Bilbao and Nouvelle-Aquitaine Ports join forces

The Bilbao Port Authority and the Association of Commercial Ports in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, which includes Bayonne, Bordeaux, Rochefort-Tonnay-Charente, and La Rochelle, signed a cooperation agreement on 25 September at Agri Vrac.

The partnership aims to strengthen cross-border ties and create a coordinated approach to port development. Key focuses include innovative and sustainable solutions, especially the deployment of offshore wind energy along the Atlantic coast.

Both organizations seek to improve the competitiveness of ports serving their hinterlands. They plan to build an efficient, sustainable logistics corridor, enhance connectivity, and leverage existing facilities to provide faster, more integrated services. Real-time data exchanges for business operators are also on the agenda.

The agreement promotes joint initiatives in sustainability, digitalization, logistics innovation, and renewable marine energy. Projects will focus on green technologies, optimized supply chains in southwest Europe, and reducing the carbon footprint of port operations.

The partnership also aims to expand export and import capacity, support international trade, and stimulate regional economic growth while optimizing logistics across the European region.
