Kalmar has extended its comprehensive Kalmar Care maintenance contract with long-term customer Belfast Container Terminal Ltd (BCT), part of the Irish Continental Group. The new seven-year agreement, booked in Q3 2025, will run until Q3 2032. It guarantees 24/7 dedicated maintenance support to ensure maximum operational availability of all cargo-handling equipment at Victoria Terminal 3 (VT3).
BCT, the largest container terminal in Northern Ireland, operates under a concession from the Irish Continental Group at Belfast Harbour. The renewed contract covers on-site maintenance and automation support for BCT’s full equipment fleet, including Kalmar AutoRTGs, empty container handlers, forklifts, terminal tractors, and third-party ship-to-shore cranes.
The extended partnership demonstrates BCT’s focus on maintaining high efficiency and reliability through Kalmar’s expert support.
Alec Colvin, Terminal Director at BCT, said:
“Our collaboration with Kalmar is vital to our success. Their responsive and flexible support keeps our terminal running efficiently. This seven-year deal secures long-term access to expert on-site maintenance, ensuring maximum uptime for our fleet.”
Joel Garmory, Country Director, UK and Ireland, Kalmar, added:
“This contract extension reflects the strength of our partnership with BCT. We are proud to support their operations with world-class service, helping them achieve consistent performance and reliability. It’s a great example of how Kalmar and its customers work together to build resilient, future-ready operations.”
