Bahri drives Saudi maritime growth ahead of vision 2030

Eng. Ahmed Alsubaey, CEO, Bahri addresses audience at Saudi Maritime & Logistics Congress

Bahri is strengthening its role in Saudi Arabia’s push to become a global maritime hub. The company’s expansion and modernization strategy aligns with Vision 2030, which seeks to diversify the Kingdom’s economy and boost its position in global trade.

As the Founding Strategic Partner of the Saudi Maritime Logistics Congress, Bahri will play a central role in the event’s sixth edition, set for 1–2 October 2025 at Dhahran Expo, Dammam.

CEO Eng. Ahmed Alsubaey said the Congress offers a platform to highlight Bahri’s efforts. “Our strategy is focused on growth in current markets and expansion into new ones. We are leveraging our people, technology, and innovation to lead global logistics,” he said.

Bahri has invested heavily in its fleet. In August 2024, the company signed a $1 billion deal to acquire nine VLCCs from Capital Marine and Trading, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s largest VLCC operators. Today, Bahri operates 103 vessels and three floating desalination barges.

Beyond its fleet, Bahri is building a broader maritime ecosystem. Recent partnerships include an agreement with Ma’aden to develop local supply chains, collaboration with the Saudi Logistics Academy to train talent, and expansion of Bahri Ship Management services to support other operators.

The Saudi Maritime Logistics Congress, organised by Seatrade Maritime, will spotlight investment, innovation, and sustainability. Last year’s event drew more than 10,000 visitors. Organisers expect even stronger participation this year.

Chris Morley, Group Director at Seatrade Maritime, said the event highlights the Kingdom’s “blue economy” ambitions. “Our aim is to create partnerships that unlock real growth for the industry,” he said.
