Australia’s major beef exporter selects Maersk ECO Delivery

OBE Organic, Australia’s oldest organic beef exporting company, aims to reduce its carbon footprint, choosing Maersk’s low emission ECO Delivery product which reduces CO2 emissions by more than 80%, using green biofuels.

“At OBE Organic, we take our commitment to people, animals, the environment and our product seriously. We became the first and only Australian beef company to join the UN Global Compact as a Signatory. Our company is mindful that in all our actions, we are taking positive steps to reduce the impact on the planet, as healthy landscapes create healthy food,” said Dalene Wray, managing director of OBE Organic, which became the first refrigerated meat exporter in Oceania to significantly reduce its ocean emissions to North America.

The entire supply chain of the company is fully certified organic, according to a statement.

“The choice of Maersk ECO Delivery for our sea freight to North America is a natural initiative towards a more sustainable future, as it provides direct carbon savings rather than carbon offsetting,” commented Wray.

Henrik Jensen, CEO of Maersk Oceania, stated, “With Maersk ECO Delivery, we can ensure that the need to support our customers in securing resilient global supply chains goes hand in hand with the imperative of decarbonising logistics.”

It is important to note that since 2019, when Maersk ECO Delivery launched, customer demand for the product has increased by more than 170% from year to year, according to Maersk’s data.
