Arla and Maersk are strengthening their long-standing partnership with the launch of a new coldstore facility in Taulov/Fredericia, Denmark. Starting next summer, Arla will use a 9,100 sqm retrofitted warehouse unit under a ten-year contract to store temperature-sensitive dairy products.
The facility, part of Denmark’s first BREEAM Excellence-certified newbuild operated by Maersk, will feature two temperature-controlled chambers set at 2°C and 5°C. The 5°C zone will be fully automated with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), ensuring strict separation and efficiency.
“Partnering with Maersk enables us to build integrated solutions that enhance the resilience and efficiency of our global supply chain,” said David Boulanger, Executive Vice President & Chief Supply Chain Officer at Arla.
Birna Odefors, Managing Director of Maersk Area Nordics, added: “The new coldstore in Denmark is another building block in our integrated logistics solution to serve our customers’ total supply chain.”
Maersk has worked with Arla for more than 20 years, supporting ocean and inland transport across Europe and to key overseas markets. The new coldstore expands Maersk’s global cold chain network, which includes around 20 facilities worldwide, with new sites opening this year in South Africa and India.
