APM Terminals MedPort Tangier receives new equipment

With the delivery of the first of four batches of new twin Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes, APM Terminals MedPort Tangier in Morocco has reached a new milestone in its development project.

The arrival of two dual Ship-to-Shore cranes is part of a series of eight new cranes that will be commissioned as part of the terminal’s third phase of expansion, representing a US$129 million investment.

With an 82-meter reach, these dual STS cranes can handle cargo ships up to 26 containers wide or up to 24,000 TEUs.

This equipment is expected to boost terminal capacity and turnaround efficiency, allowing for greater customer service and enhancing overall customer experience through more efficient operations.

“The two new cranes will be deployed and fully operational after the summer,” stated
Magnus Lundberg, chief operating officer at APM Terminals MedPort Tangier.
