APM Terminals appoints new leaders in the Americas and Mexico region

APM Terminals has named Marliz Bermúdez as the new head of investments for the Americas Region and Beatriz Yera as the managing director for APM Terminals in Mexico, effective from 15 April 2024.

“With the appointment of Marliz Bermúdez as Head of Investments for the Americas and Beatriz Yera as Managing Director for APM Terminals Mexico, we continue our mission to lift efficiency, reliability and safety for our customers in Mexico and accelerate our growth in the Americas,” commented Leo Huisman, regional manager director for APM Terminals Americas.

Bringing over 25 years of extensive experience to her new role, Beatriz Yera has held diverse leadership positions on the international stage spanning freight, procurement, commercial operations, and ports and terminals. Throughout her career, she has shown unwavering dedication to steering business transformations, nurturing a culture of ongoing learning, and spearheading strategic endeavours.

Notably, Beatriz Yera has previously served in Mexico, where she assumed the position of Sales Manager at Maersk from 2005 to 2008, and later served as Chief Commercial Officer at APM Terminals Lázaro Cárdenas from 2013 to 2015.

Moreover, in her role as managing director for APM Terminals in Mexico, Marliz Bermúdez played a pivotal part in establishing a more streamlined structure within the country, aimed at spearheading and consolidating the expansion of Phase II of Lázaro Cárdenas.

This expansion, expected to commence operations in early 2026, involves a US$140 million investment to enhance capacity, transforming it into the first semi-automated terminal in Latin America. This development will add one million TEUs, positioning it as a central hub for the Americas region.

Bermudez embarked on her maritime journey aboard Merchant Marine vessels in 2003, marking the outset of her career in the maritime sector. Over the past 17 years, she has assumed various roles encompassing operational, commercial, and project implementation domains within both liner and terminal businesses.
