Anemoi Marine Technologies has officially opened a state-of-the-art Rotor Sail production facility in Jingjiang City, China, a move that significantly boosts the company’s global manufacturing footprint and signals a major leap forward for wind-assisted ship propulsion.
Strategically located within the Daming Heavy Industry manufacturing base on the Yangtze River, the new site offers direct port access and on-site barge transport. This means Rotor Sails can be shipped out efficiently and installed at nearby shipyards with minimal logistical hurdles or environmental impact.
“This is more than just a new site. It’s a fully integrated, end-to-end production hub where every stage, from steel fabrication and precision assembly to rigorous testing and quality assurance, is handled under one roof”, said Clare Urmston, CEO of Anemoi.

Anemoi’s presence in China dates back to its first pilot installation in 2018. Since then, the company has deepened its ties in the region, formally establishing a Chinese entity in 2021 and forming strategic partnerships with major players like CRRC Qishuyan Institute.
Together, they’ve co-developed this next-generation facility, which supports Anemoi’s full range of Rotor Sail deployment systems, including Fixed, Folding, and Rail configurations.
Anemoi has also maintained a long-term partnership with Zhongfu, a leading composite material manufacturer known for wind turbine blades.
Daming Heavy Industries, Anemoi’s exclusive steel fabrication partner, plays a critical role in delivering high-precision components. With on-site infrastructure and a focus on quality and safety, Daming’s facility ensures efficient production and flexibility as demand increases.
The new site has an annual production capacity of up to 250 Rotor Sails, with room for expansion and on-site storage to support quicker delivery times.
“Our presence in one of China’s key shipping hubs not only strengthens existing strategic relationships but also paves the way for new collaborations.Getting to zero emissions requires forward-thinking action and partnerships like these”, added Nick Contopoulos, Chief Commercial Officer of Anemoi.
