AD Ports Group has opened its first representative office in Islamabad, Pakistan. The move signals a deeper commitment to expanding its trade and logistics footprint across South and Central Asia.
The new office sits near Pakistan’s key ministries and state-owned companies. It will serve as a hub for engaging government stakeholders and pushing ahead with infrastructure and trade projects. The site will also support ongoing operations in ports, logistics, and maritime sectors.
The launch ceremony saw strong representation from both countries. Attendees included Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and several federal ministers, along with the UAE Ambassador and AD Ports Group’s regional leadership. Their presence underscored the growing cooperation between the UAE and Pakistan.
”The opening of our Islamabad office represents a key milestone in our global expansion strategy and underlines our deep and enduring commitment to Pakistan. This move will enable closer collaboration with government entities and strategic partners,” stated Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO, AD Ports Group.
Expanding Operations in Pakistan
This new presence follows a string of investments by AD Ports Group in Pakistan. In recent years, the company committed nearly USD 295 million to upgrade Karachi Port’s East Wharf. These efforts are part of a wider goal to turn Pakistan into a regional logistics hub.
The Group entered the Pakistani market in 2022 through a 50-year concession to develop container terminal berths 6–10 at Karachi Port. In 2023, it added another 50-year deal to handle general and bulk cargo at berths 11–17.
Operations are managed through Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL), which has introduced advanced systems and equipment. The upgrades have improved port efficiency, reduced wait times, and boosted cargo flow.
Building Trade Links and Infrastructure
Beyond port operations, AD Ports Group has signed several major agreements in Pakistan:
-
A deal with the Pakistan Board of Investment to explore an industrial zone near Karachi Port and Port Qasim.
-
A strategic agreement with Pakistan Single Window to create a unified digital trade platform.
-
A collaboration with the Bahria Foundation to enhance marine services, including dredging and vessel pooling.
-
A logistics corridor project with Noatum Logistics and KGTL, aiming to link Pakistan to Central Asia with integrated air, sea, and land services.
These projects are designed to modernize Pakistan’s trade infrastructure, attract foreign investment, and improve regional connectivity.
Supporting a Long-Term Vision
AD Ports Group sees Pakistan as a key part of its plan to develop trade corridors from China to Europe. With existing operations in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Georgia, Pakistan’s location offers vital access to Central Asia’s markets.
The new Islamabad office will help accelerate project delivery, strengthen partnerships, and support Pakistan’s role as a future trade gateway.
