AD Ports Group appoints Jochen Thewes as CEO of Logistics Cluster

AD Ports Group has appointed Jochen Thewes as CEO of its Logistics Cluster, effective 1 December 2025, as the Group moves to strengthen its position as a leading global logistics provider.

Thewes, a veteran of the international logistics industry, previously served as CEO and Management Board Chairman of DB Schenker, where he led the company through significant growth and oversaw its sale to DSV A/S in April 2025, one of the largest deals in the sector.

The appointment aligns with AD Ports Group’s strategy to transform its Logistics Cluster, the Group’s largest in terms of global reach, into a world-class logistics business. The cluster builds on the global network of Noatum Logistics, acquired by AD Ports Group in 2023.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, said the appointment underscores the company’s ambition to expand its logistics footprint. “Under Jochen’s leadership, we will accelerate the transformation of our logistics business and unlock greater value for our partners and shareholders,” he said.

Jochen Thewes said he looks forward to scaling AD Ports Group’s operations globally. “I am excited to join AD Ports Group and help position it among the world’s leading logistics players, building on the strong foundation of Noatum Logistics,” he said.

AD Ports Group has seen rapid growth under its international expansion strategy, quintupling annual revenue and more than quadrupling net profit from 2020 to 2024. The Group operates 34 terminals, extensive economic zones, and a 270-vessel fleet, including the world’s largest independent feeder container shipping line.
