ABS expands U.S. West Coast presence with Anchorage office

ABS is strengthening support for Alaska’s maritime industry by establishing a team of surveyors at the Port of Alaska in Anchorage. The move will enable faster response times for inspections, surveys, and classification projects.

The Port of Alaska, the state’s primary transportation hub, handles 75% of Alaska’s imports. The new office joins ABS locations along the U.S. West Coast in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Honolulu.

John McDonald, ABS President and COO, said: “Alaska’s maritime industry has significant potential but faces unique challenges, from extreme weather and ice to remote logistics. This investment provides clients with a local partner grounded in global standards, with fast access to ABS’ engineering and technical teams.”
