American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has granted an approval in principle (AIP) to Hanwha Ocean for its newly designed floating wind turbine platform.
The concept, called WindHive 15-H3, is a semisubmersible platform designed to support 15-megawatt (MW) turbines using three hexagonal columns. The innovative structure has gone through a thorough review process by ABS, ensuring compliance with both class and industry standards.
“Floating offshore wind power is set to play a critical role in the world’s future energy landscape, and we are proud to collaborate with industry leaders like Hanwha Ocean on innovative solutions that are focused on advancing safety at sea,” said Rob Langford, ABS Vice President, Global Offshore Renewables.
“We are committed to strengthening our position in the global offshore wind market through continuous innovation and strategic value chain expansion”, Hanwha Ocean added.
