ABB and Wallenius Marine have officially launched a joint venture in Stockholm to expand their digital fleet solution, OVERSEA™. The move aims to boost vessel performance management and support more sustainable operations.

First introduced in 2022, OVERSEA™ combines ABB’s ship technology expertise with Wallenius Marine’s fleet management experience. The platform provides ship owners and operators with tools to improve fuel efficiency, cut emissions, and enhance safety.

The system uses ABB’s Genix™ Industrial IoT and AI Suite to collect and analyze vessel data. Shore-based experts at the OVERSEA™ Fleet Support Center in Stockholm then offer tailored recommendations, helping operators make smarter operational decisions.

Wallenius Marine CEO Johan Mattsson said the partnership builds on decades of maritime know-how. “Together with ABB, we can now bring this innovative fleet support service to a global market,” he said.

Tomas Arhippainen, Business Line Manager at ABB Marine & Ports, called the venture a milestone. “OVERSEA™ enables customers to turn data into action. It helps them improve performance and sustain it over time,” he said.

The joint venture marks the next step in a growing collaboration, with the goal of setting new standards in digital fleet management worldwide.
