A. P. Moller – Maersk to divest Maersk Supply Service

A.P. Moller – Maersk has agreed to divest Maersk Supply Service (MSS), a supplier of worldwide offshore maritime services and project solutions for the energy industry, to A.P. Moller Holding, the parent company of the A.P. Moller Group.

Maersk launched a new combined transportation strategy in 2016, as well as a split of the current energy-related operations. Maersk Tankers, Maersk Oil & Gas, and Maersk Drilling were all sold between 2017 and 2019. The final divestment of energy-related operations will be finished on 20 April with the planned selling of Maersk Supply Service.

Maersk Supply Service will continue to operate under its existing name and will incorporate the Maersk seven-pointed star logo into its branding.

The deal involves a cutting-edge wind installation vessel, which, once completed, will position Maersk Supply Service as a top offshore wind provider, according to a statement.

“The capabilities and vessels Maersk Supply Service have built over more than 50 years supporting the oil and gas energy industry are much needed within offshore renewable energy, especially in the wind industry. As new owners, we will drive a transition of Maersk Supply Service to over time become a leading offshore marine company servicing the offshore wind industry. At the same time, we are pleased that this concludes the separation of energy related activities from A.P. Moller – Maersk as initiated in 2016,” stated Martin Larsen, chief financial officer at A.P. Moller Holding.
