2M Alliance revises Transatlantic network

The largest container alliance in the world 2M Alliance, comprising Maersk and MSC, decided to make changes to its Transatlantic network.

The alterations in 2M’s North Europe – North America and Mediterranean – North America services will be effective within the first quarter of the year.

Maersk and MSC have announced the following changes in its Transatlantic services:

Maersk said the purpose of this decision is to reduce schedule gaps and slidings, boost weekly coverage and allow for more robust supply chain planning.

Additionally, among the 2M Alliance’s goals is to reduce fuel consumption. With the start of the changed proforma, 2M Alliance will adjust the speed of its ships to reduce emissions, in order to meet its goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
