Transatlantic cable to be installed for Portugal-Brazil data transmission

A transatlantic submarine cable will be installed to link Sines, Portugal, to Fortaleza, Brazil, with an investment of 170 million euros (186 million U.S. dollars), an official statement said on Monday, October 7.

The submarine cable will pass through Cape Verde and the island of Madeira, with a data transmission capacity of 73 terabits per second, according to the municipality of Sines, a southern port city of Portugal.

The first data transmission is scheduled for late 2020.
