COSCO Shipping Ports reports steady box volumes

COSCO Shipping Ports Limited (CSPL) reported a slight increase of 0.8% in its total container throughput in June, compared with the same month last year, reaching 8,963,000 TEUs.

Shanghai Mingdong Terminal saw a strong rebound this month due to the low base effect caused by serious waves of Covid during the same period last year, while throughput at CSP Wuhan Terminal, CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal and Greece’s PCT continued to grow at 94.5%, 14.3% and 14.0% year-on-year this month.

COSCO said the overseas portfolio achieved an increase of 3.9% year-on-year, but China’s ports and terminals showed a decline of 0.5%.

Meanwhile, CSPL has recorded a marginal 0.3% year-on-year decline in total box throughput for the first six months of the year.
